Rice Stitch
The Rice Stitch is another great square stitch. It makes a beautiful border on a canvas.
To do the Rice Stitch, begin by placing a Cross Stitch in the canvas threads in both directions. Next, add a diagonal stitch over two to tie down the corner of each cross.
This is a very ornate stitch. Try it in a combination of two different threads: one sparkle (like Silk Lamé Braid) and one matte (like Vineyard Silk)
