Trellis Crosses Stitch is a very open background stitch that leaves lots of canvas exposed, but is absolutely gorgeous stitched into a canvas.
We love this stitch for the background of floral canvases and skies. Try this stitch in a thin fiber like Petite Silk Lamé Braid or a Kreinik #8 Braid.
For more contrast, try stitching the cross stitches in one fiber and the diagonal stitches over two in a different one! The combination of a sparkle and a matte thread can be lovely!
