Mosaic and Smyrna Pattern
This is another great example of arranging simpler stitches together to make one more ornate pattern. Take a look at the diagram above. You will see Mosaic Stitches (in white) and Smyrna Cross Stitches (in blue). These stitches have been arranged together into a pattern where they are offset from each other. This is a great stitch for landscapes or anywhere that you want to add a slightly bumpy texture to your canvas. 

This stitch can be done all in one thread or in a combination of a shiny and a matte. (Silk Lamé Braid and Pepper Pot Silk, for example).
