]]>The Moorish Stitch is a cousin to the Diagonal Scotch Stitch. It is a composite stitch, meaning that it is made up of two or more simpler stitches combined together into one more complex stitch.
Take a look at the diagram above. You will see that the stitch is made up of rows of Diagonal Scotch Stitch alternating with rows of Reverse Tent Stitch. These rows can be worked all in one thread- one of our favorites is Planet Earth Silk. Or it can be worked using one thread for the Reverse Tent Stitch (try Entice!) and one thread for the Diagonal Scotch Stitch.
This stitch has been reversed from the original so stitches will slant from lower right to upper left. You can find the original stitch by clicking here.

In this variation, Brick Stitches are worked in groups of three. Each stitch will span over two canvas threads. Stagger groups up and down by one canvas thread.

This stitch is done in two parts. The first is a steep vertical stitch over one canvas thread horizontally and up three vertically. It is tied with a Reverse Tent Stitch that bisects the stitch in half.
It can be done all in one color, or you can use a second color for the "tying" stitch.

Diagonal Triple Parisian Stitch is made of groups of three stitches that span over two canvas thread and groups of three stitches that span over four canvas threads.
]]>It is a diagonal stitch that falls on a true diagonal. It can be worked all in one thread or in two different ones. When you start your second row you will see that the stitches that span over two meet up with stitches over four on the diagonal and vice versa.
This stitch has a lovely texture to it. Try it in Planet Earth Silk.

Cashmere Stitch- Vertical is made up of tent stitches and diagonal stitches over two. This stitch makes an upright rectangle in the canvas.
It is great for architectural areas on the canvas like buildings and sidewalks.
